Publicity
The difference between Marketing and Publicity?
Marketing crafts your story. Publicity makes sure it gets in front of the right people.
Your PR campaign is designed to distribute the story of your book to the media, including print, radio, TV, and bloggers for a sustained period of time. Why? Because these are the people who influence readers. When you are interviewed on the radio, a podcast, or a TV program, you reach thousands of people at a time. When a newspaper, blogger, or magazine prints a review of your book, again - thousands of people at a time see you.
You can have an outstanding book and a great marketing story, but if no one knows about either, you won't sell any books. This is why you seek publicity. It's the only reliable, proven method to be positive that people are seeing your book.
